Faith In Action

Services Available
Faith In Action helps seniors (60+) and adults with disabilities (18+) with supportive services throughout Waukesha County. To volunteer or to refer a family member, neighbors, or friend to receive services, contact the Interfaith office.

Transportation
Volunteers are matched with seniors and adults with disabilities in their community who need transportation to doctor appointments, grocery stores and food pantries. Most transportation requests are within 15 minutes of a client’s home and average about one hour per trip. Some clients may need transportation to doctor appointments in Milwaukee County. Volunteers may choose one-time requests, or on-going assignments.

Non-Medical Respite Care
Help is needed when an individual is faced with caring for an ailing spouse or family member who needs 24- hour care but cannot afford to hire someone to help. Volunteers come to the client’s home to look after the person in need while the caregiver runs errands, gets a haircut, or takes some time to recharge with friends at the local coffee shop. Training is provided.

Seasonal Outdoor Programs
Volunteers are matched with clients in their area who need seasonal help such as snow shoveling, lawn mowing, Fall and Spring yard cleanup, window washing, and minor outdoor home maintenance. This assistance allows individuals to live in their home safely and securely.

    • Yard Work
    • Spring yard clean-up (Spring Ahead Day)
    • Lawn Mowing
    • Fall yard clean-up (Make a Difference Day)
    • Snow Removal

Supportive Services
Caring volunteers help seniors and adults with disabilities needing assistance with administrative tasks such as forms or bills or with balancing a checkbook. In addition, some clients who live alone or who are homebound are in need of a friendly phone call or home visit from our volunteers—a great way to form new friendships and keep our neighbors connected with others. These assignments can be one-time or on-going.

Holiday Basket Program
This seasonal program brings together volunteers of all ages to assemble and deliver free baskets to low-income neighbors through out Waukesha County during the holidays. Donated goods including gift cards for pharmacies and grocery stores, toiletries, linens, calendars, stationary, and gift items are assembled into baskets which are then delivered in December to recipients’ homes by volunteers.
